Today I must confess that I am SO glad Fiesta is over. Don’t get me wrong, I love that San Antonio essentially shuts down for a week to have a city-wide party, but it can be exhausting. Steve and I didn’t even attend a ton of events, but this past weekend we learned that we are living approximately 2 blocks from the parade staging area. Friday morning we awoke to the sounds of high school drumlines warming up for the Battle of the Flowers parade (ah the memories of marching and high kicking for miles and miles in 95 degree weather with the Lancer Dancers… shudders). Then on Saturday evening our neighborhood was absolutely flooded with people looking for parking spaces for the Fiesta Flambeau parade. It was really neat to be so close to the action, Steve and I walked down to the staging area to check out the floats and see the fiesta princesses.
Fiesta is fun, but its not a sustainable lifestyle. I’m looking forward to getting back into my normal groove, and I’m especially looking forward to Kelly’s wedding this weekend.
