I’m not the biggest girly girl there is. But every girl loves a pampering moment from time to time. Yesterday I treated myself to few homemade beauty treatments using nothing but ingredients in my pantry.
Chocolate Face Mask:
Cocoa powder is a wonderful and powerful antioxidant. It protects the skin from free radicals that might damage the skin. It is a mistake to think that chocolate causes acne. Actually, dermatologists say that what causes acne in people who consume large amounts of chocolate is milk that is added to it, not the cocoa itself.
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup quick cook oats
1/4 cup buttermilk
Mix together in a small bowl then schmeer on your face. As with most skin care products, avoid the eyes. Relax for 10-20 minutes then rinse with warm water.
For an extra treat while the mask is soaking in, place thin slices of cucumber over your eyes. This will help eliminate any under eye or eyelid puffiness.
Mayo Avocado Conditioning Treatment
1/2 ripe haas avocado
1/4 cup mayonnaise (not miracle whip, you shouldn’t have that in your fridge anyway!)
Mash the avocado together with the mayo using the back of a fork. Apply to dry hair starting at the roots and working up. Leave in for as long as you can handle smelling like mayonnaise. I’ve never made it longer than 30 mins.
Wash and condition as usual.
