Last week I had the opportunity to attend a special event hosted by one of San Antonio’s premier restaurateurs, Chef Jason Dady. Chef Dady operates some of the top eateries in town, including The Lodge Restaurant in Castle Hills, Bin 555, Tre Tratoria, Two Bros. BBQ and his newest establishment, Restaurant Insignia.
The event took place at the Fairmont hotel downtown, which is home to Insignia. Each floor of the hotel had been taken over with food stations from his various restaurants. There was plenty of delicious wine to pair with the food and stations serving up Grey Goose Pear Martinis and Bombay Sapphire Collins.
All the food was fantastic! I tried to take as many pictures as possible, but I did miss a few things. To me, the real star of the evening was the Steak TarTare.
It was topped with some tasty creme fraiche type stuff and it was so so so delicious. I’d never hard tartare before, but since I love sushi, and I love beef I wasn’t really worried about it. I think I’m addicted now. I had at least 2 little spoonfuls.

Tasty BBQ sliders from Two Bros BBQ
This tiny crostini was called “Tongue & Cheek” which delicious and clever.
There were several types of pizza fresh from the wood fired oven at Insignia

Cups made from Parmesan filled with goat cheese mousse
Foie Gras Bon Bons with a sweet pomegranate reduction
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Tomato Jam
Yall, I thought I had died and gone to foodie heaven. Seriously. One of my favorite deserts of the evening was a ricotta cake that was creamy, light and delicious. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to snap a picture of it (probably because I was popping them in my mouth so quickly). Chef Dady, if you’re out there… what was in that delicious little bite? I’ll be searching the interwebs far and wide trying to find a recipe.
The best part about the event was that it was for a good cause. Chef Dady invited us all there to announce a series of “Literary Feasts” at his restaurants benefiting the San Antonio Library Foundation. Each dinner menu is planned to accompany a book. Such a fun idea. I’m so impressed with how Chef Dady has chosen to support the community in this way.
