Hello Lovelies!
I’m back with an end of summer edition of Wine Wednesday. While I’m usually much more of a red wine fan, there is something infinitely refreshing about a crisp cold white wine on a hot day.
Luckily, temperatures have dropped to the low 90s here in San Antonio. Not so luckily, just to the north of us, wildfires are ravaging the Hill Country. It’s really very sad. In just one fire alone, an area the size of Connecticut has burned. You know you’re from a big state when you have fires as big as other whole states. I say we raise our glasses and toast to the safety of the people and livestock in affected communities, and also drink to the hope that their properties will be spared.
In my glass, you’ll find Orvieto Classic0. From the Umbria region of Italy, Orvieto Classico is light and slightly dry. It has fruity qualities to it, but not in a sweet way. I like it very much. I also really like that it is only $9 at HEB.
Have you tried this vareital? What did you think?
Chardonnay is my favorite wine usually but I will definitely try Orvieto Classico after reading your post. I prefer drier whites rather than sweet ones. And, when I do try a glass of it, I’ll definitely be toasting to the safety of everyone as well as the heroic firefighters and other men and women in uniform who work diligently every day to protect us all.
Looking forward to more Wine Wednesday posts from you!
i have tried this wine, actually! it’s pretty tasty + like you mentioned, a great deal. i, too, am more drawn towards white wine in the summer when it’s hot out, but otherwise prefer reds. i’m ready to break out some light red wines for fall!
I’ve never tried this but am going to keep it in mind for my wine Wednesdays! Looks like it would be right up my alley.
